Description: Our client is an innovative health solutions provider and a leader in its field. It is currently seeking a number of occupational hygienists to work across the UK but reporting in to a head office in Scotland.\r\nYou will be responsible for identifying, assessing and controlling health hazards in a range of settings. You will need to concentrate on the short and long-term effects on health arising from both acute and chronic exposure to hazards, and enable clients to respond effectively to legislative requirements.\r\n\r\nYou key responsibilities will include:\r\n•Undertaking surveys and evaluating risks to health in the workplace;\r\n•Accurately measuring and sampling levels of exposure;\r\n•Recording facts or details of procedures in the workplace;\r\n•Eliminating or significantly reducing risk by making organisational changes and selecting and designing relevant facilities;\r\n•Considering all options of control, such as ventilation, containment and personal protective equipment and finding cost effective solutions;\r\n•Compiling data, writing reports and presenting findings to clients;\r\n•Liaising with a range of people, including employers and employees, in the process of evaluating workplaces;\r\n•Providing clear and accurate information on complex health and safety issues;\r\n•Training organisation staff on health issues such as asbestos and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) awareness;\r\n•Persuading company management to develop effective hazard controls when required;\r\n•Providing expert witness services;\r\n•Liaising with regulatory bodies such as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).\r\n\r\nIn order to be considered for this role, you will have:\r\n•A geographical location that allows for practical access to Scotland as and when required \r\n•An understanding of safe systems of work and wider Health & Safety legislation based on working on clients sites;\r\n•The ability to write technical reports that are clear, concise, factual and easy to read;\r\n•Experience of Occupational Hygiene and Health & Safety;\r\n•A relevant technical qualification in Occupational Hygiene either at Certificate level or working towards this;\r\n•A current UK driving licence;\r\n•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to gain the confidence and cooperation of the workforce;\r\n•An analytical approach to work and a high level of attention to detail; \r\n•Problem-solving skills and the ability to operate effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines;\r\n•Negotiating skills and the capacity to persuade others in order to achieve results and initiate action;\r\n•Operational decision-making skills;\r\n•An understanding of practical conditions in industry and the ability to apply workable solutions;\r\n•The ability to work independently and also as part of a team to meet health objectives;\r\n•Technical and IT skills for using specialist equipment;\r\n•An interest in the law and regulations.\r\n\r\nThis is an expanding business with a well developed and high profile client base with operations worldwide and these opportunities could allow individuals to work overseas from time to time.\r\n\r\nWhen applying for this vacancy please ensure that you attach your CV in WORD FORMAT including your full contact details and postal address.
