Description: Our client, one of the world's leading marine energy companies is currently recruiting for an Offshore Installations Manager to join their highly successful team at their headquarters in Edinburgh.

The company have developed the world's largest working hydro-electric wave energy device which was officially launched by Scotland's First Minister at the European Marine Energy Centre in Orkney in November 2009. They plan to develop commercial wave farms around the world and have recently signed an agreement with a major utility company to develop up to 1,000MW of wave farms by 2020. Discussions are currently in progress with other potential developers.

The purpose of the Installation Manager is to provide the company with offshore construction expertise to enable development, design, installation and commissioning of marine energy devices in a safe, timely and cost effective fashion. The expertise will cover the project stages from initial design through to handover to operations.

Key duties include:

• Review of internal and external design documents and methodology studies with focus on installation documents. Draft own documents where required.
• Organise and manage (including resourcing) all offshore representatives required on installation/diving vessels.
• Ensure a smooth installation phase by extensive and early planning.
• Participate and organise HAZOPs / HAZIDs for the installation phase.
• Monitor offshore construction and ensure highest HSE standards during operations with the help of offshore representatives.
• Ensure that interfaces offshore/onshore are adequately covered.
• Contract management, including drafting of scopes, vessel charter, negotiation of contracts and budget monitoring.
• Provide advice on all offshore installation and design issues, including surveys, cable / pipeline lay, lifting operations, diving and protection of assets.
• Check consistency of installation schedules between the project team and contractors and provide input to the further development of schedules.
• Contribute to the development of a commissioning strategy for Oyster.
• Development of concept and detailed design; provide early input to foundation designs.

Applications are welcome from experienced Offshore Engineers qualified in Mechanical or Structural Engineering with:

• Experience with diving operations
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills
• Strong influencing and interpersonal skills
• Contract management experience
• Sound background on vessel audits and offshore construction activities, in particular with foundations and moorings
• HSE and QA training and hands-on experience
• Preferably experience with subsea pipelines
• Understanding of procurement processes
