Description: Our client is one of the broadest based renewable energy companies and is active in the development, construction and ownership of wind farms on a global scale. In order to strengthen the existing design and power systems analysis team and position the department to meet the demands of the growing on-shore and offshore wind business, they are looking to recruit an Electrical Engineering Manager to be based out of the Newcastle Office. The electrical engineering department are responsible for the detailed design of the wind farm collection system and sub-station and have gained experience with over 4,000MW of operating projects. These have included designs up to and including 400kV for both on-shore and offshore wind farms in the UK & Ireland, France, Sweden, North America, Canada and Australia.

Reporting to the Group Chief Engineer, the key responsibilities of the role will be:-

• To manage the electrical design and power systems analysis teams which have staff based in Newcastle, Hertfordshire and Wales
• Resource, workload and budget planning
• Further develop and manage the company’s offshore electrical design capabilities
• Develop and maintain the electrical engineering procedures
• Ensure effective communication between the team and other engineering disciplines such as SCADA, Civil design and grid connections
• Manage the electrical engineering support provided to existing regions and new markets
• Performance management, training and development
• General electrical engineering support

Applications are welcome from candidates qualified to degree level or equivalent in Electrical Engineering and/or relevant experience in the power or related industry who are able to demonstrate that you have the technical and management skills to lead an experienced and highly qualified team of engineers. Previous renewable energy experience and the ability to work to demanding timescales and manage workload effectively is an essential attribute for this role.
There will be requirements for travel within the UK and overseas.
