| Description: | Our client, one of the world's leading marine energy companies is currently recruiting for a Senior Development Manager to join their highly successful Development Team at their headquarters in Edinburgh. The company developed the world's largest working hydro-electric wave energy device which was officially launched by Scotland's First Minister at the European Marine Energy Centre in Orkney in November 2009. The target now is to develop a pipeline of commercial scale, consented and grid-connected sites for wave power projects – with the goal of delivering an installed capacity of 2.2GW globally by 2020. The Development Team’s role is to identify promising sites, and work closely with local communities and key stakeholders to secure all the necessary consents and permits required to install wave power farms. They have gained experience of consenting marine energy devices; and built up a sizeable resource and constraints database. They also have an excellent network of marine energy stakeholders and have secured a 1000MW co-development agreement with a major utility company, under which the two companies intend to form 50:50 Joint Ventures to co-develop marine energy sites in the UK and Republic of Ireland. The objective now is to develop all the sites in the companies existing pipeline and to secure additional partnerships with utilities and project developers to help us succeed. The Senior Development Manager will be responsible for delivering and project managing the development schedule for all sites in our pipeline, and to ensure that each site schedule is delivered on time and to budget. Your challenge will be to conduct regular risk assessments and review the company’s site development strategy quarterly – so that resource allocation is prioritised for the most promising sites. You will be responsible for overseeing tendering processes for third parties to support planning applications, environmental assessments and survey work. You will use your experience of developing renewable energy projects to develop the company’s best practice Site Selection and Consenting Guidelines. You will be responsible for implementing and continuously improving our Standards. You will also take the lead in ensuring that your team makes a positive contribution to developing sound industry-wide standards, policies and procedures for marine energy projects. The successful candidate will have outstanding project management experience within the renewable energy project development sector. You will be able to lead and managed entire renewable site development project lifecycle – from site identification and feasibility studies through to approval for construction. Ideally, you will have experience of managing or conducting environmental impact assessments and you will have a working knowledge of the regulatory framework for marine energy development (or offshore wind farm development) in at least two international markets.
